DELAWARE, Ohio – The Delaware County Board of Commissioners on Monday voted 3-0 to adjourn from executive session, approving motion 26-427 in a brief public meeting that lasted less than a minute.

The meeting, held June 15, 2026, consisted solely of the procedural vote to exit the closed-door session. Commissioners Benton, Lewis and Merrill each voted in favor of the motion, which was moved and seconded without discussion.

“Any further business?” one commissioner asked after the vote, according to a transcript of the meeting. After a brief exchange about whether anyone had additional items to raise, the meeting concluded with no other action taken.

The executive session itself was not open to the public, and commissioners did not disclose the subject of their private deliberations. Ohio law permits government bodies to meet behind closed doors for specific purposes, including personnel matters, pending litigation, property negotiations and certain security issues.

Monday’s public portion of the meeting was among the shortest in recent memory for the board, which typically handles a range of county business including budget approvals, contracts and infrastructure projects.

No contentious issues were raised during the brief session, and no members of the public addressed the board.

The vote on motion 26-427 marked the only official action taken by the commissioners during the meeting.
