COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Franklin County Board of Commissioners on Monday recognized fall state championship teams from local high schools and approved a slate of resolutions including a multi-year data management contract expected to save the county nearly $240,000.
The board opened its Feb. 3 meeting by honoring athletes and teams from Bishop Watterson, Dublin Jerome, Olentangy Berlin, Olentangy Liberty, Thomas Worthington, Gahanna Lincoln, Worthington Christian and Columbus Academy.
Commissioner John O’Grady, who noted the tradition began nearly two decades ago, told the students to thank their families for supporting them through practices and competitions.
“Make sure you acknowledge them and say thank you to them,” O’Grady said. “Make sure they know how much you appreciate all that they’ve done to get you to where you are.”
The board then moved through a series of unanimous votes on contracts and policy items.
Resolution 6626 extended the county’s OnBase content management contract with 3SG Plus LLC through 2030 at a cost of $2,444,942.19, with a 2% annual increase. Officials said the agreement will save approximately $239,000 compared to current costs.
Resolution 6726 authorized a $258,444 contract with Kerosoft for a new VoIP phone system to replace legacy AT&T copper lines.
The board approved $25,000 in Community Development Block Grant funding to Homes on the Hill for housing counseling services and $60,092 to LifeCare Alliance for home-delivered meals for low-income homebound residents.
Commissioners also authorized a $73,500 contract with Illuminology to guide a city-county domestic violence and intimate partner violence task force, and adopted the Franklin County Criminal Justice Planning Board Strategic Plan for 2025-2029.
Road improvement resolutions included a $274,000 contract with West Erie Realty Solutions for appraisal and acquisition services related to the Ferris Road improvement project. The board also requested the Ohio Department of Transportation reduce speed limits on Amity Road and Scioto Darby Creek Road from 55 to 50 mph.
Commissioner Kevin Boyce abstained from Resolution 7226, which approved 15 purchase orders totaling $1,176,848.30 for various county agencies. The remaining commissioners voted in favor.
The board appointed four new members to the Criminal Justice Planning Board: Judge Paige from the Court of Common Pleas, Judge Mason from economic development and planning, Chief Pride and Director Shaq from the city of Columbus. Terms expire Jan. 31, 2027.
The meeting concluded with a unanimous vote to enter executive session to discuss security arrangements and emergency response protocols.
